Spring is the season of those who lead the way

In Switzerland, spring rarely arrives with a bang. It comes gradually. The days grow longer. Terraces fill up. Construction sites get underway. New projects gain momentum.

Economically, too, spring is traditionally a time of new beginnings. During these months, many companies define their strategic priorities for the rest of the year. Budgets are approved. Initiatives are fleshed out. Decisions are made more quickly.

2026 is a particularly significant year.

The Swiss economy is currently operating in a challenging environment: the strong Swiss franc and the continuing high level of uncertainty regarding tariffs remain a challenge for export-oriented companies. At the same time, expectations for innovation, transformation, and sustainable growth are rising. Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming business models, forms of communication, and competitive dynamics.

In periods of heightened uncertainty, the need for guidance increases. This is also demonstrated by studies in organizational and communication research: in volatile times, employees, customers, and investors pay closer attention to strategic signals from companies. In such phases, leadership is perceived not only through operational decisions but also through communication.

In this context, guidance means three things above all:

First: contextualizing developments.
When companies explain how they are dealing with technological changes or geopolitical uncertainties, they reduce uncertainty among internal and external stakeholders.

Second: Setting priorities.
Clear statements on investments, innovation, or growth markets signal stability and a forward-looking approach. Studies show that companies with consistent strategic communication build stronger trust among stakeholders during volatile times.

Third: Leadership visibility.
When leaders take a public stance or explain strategic decisions, the company is more strongly associated with competence and the ability to act.

When companies contextualize strategic developments, set priorities, and make leadership visible, they create direction—and thus trust. Spring offers a recurring window of opportunity for this, with heightened attention to new initiatives and perspectives. Those who take advantage of this phase not only strengthen their market position but also lay the foundation for sustainable growth throughout the rest of the year.
