
Zurich, 19 June 2025 – Upon proposal from the AFBS Board the 53rd Ordinary General Assembly elected two new Members of the AFBS Board. It furthermore renewed the terms of five Members and one Auditor. This setup assures adequate representation of the broad range of business fields of foreign banks in Switzerland and thus further strengthens the presence of foreign banks in Switzerland.

AFBS is pleased to welcome two newly elected Board Members whose distinct professional backgrounds bring valuable expertise and perfectly complement the existing Board. With LGT and ING, two banks with dedicated know-how and interest in the fields of private wealth management and commodity trade finance / corporate banking respectively have joined the AFBS Board. This strengthens the breadth of its representativity expanding through its composition to all fields of business of foreign banks in Switzerland.
With the broad range of business activities foreign banks are an essential partner for the Swiss economy. They are ideal partners for Swiss corporates to deploy their business at international level thanks to their broad geographical presence and their universal range of business lines. Foreign banks are not only an important partner for businesses but also offer a bridge between Switzerland and the world as they benefit from global research and insight which they can share with Swiss stakeholders.
The Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland has been founded in 1972 and gathers financial intermediaries in Switzerland with foreign majority control. With 89 members, AFBS represents the largest banking group in Switzerland after the Swiss Bankers' Association. AFBS represents the interests of its members towards Swiss government, trade associations and financial centre infrastructure institutions such as Swiss Bankers' Association, SIX Group, esisuisse. AFBS informs its members in the context of conferences and through newsletters on developments in the field of regulation and legislation on the Swiss financial centre.
The Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland remains under the leadership of the Chair Adrian Nösberger, CEO of Schroder & Co Bank AG, and Secretary General Raoul Oliver Würgler, ensuring continuity in expanding the key role foreign banks play in Switzerland.
